The Scriptures are as follows…. John 17:4, Acts20:1, IITim 4:7and Heb 12:1

(Joh 17:4)  I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

(Act 20:1)  And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.

(2Ti 4:7)  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

(Heb 12:1)  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

SOLD!

sold Sold out that is. Paul was a sold out for Christ type of fellow. Sold out to the cause of Christ. He said “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed”.

Ok, that a nice thing to say when your life is good, BUT Paul suffered. Greatly Suffered!  Remember that list shipwrecked, beaten, tortured, left at sea to die…….. on and on he tells of his journeys. Then he says OH but wait its not about me or the pain i Suffer. Its Christ!

While we “suffer” the inconveniences of this life remember that Paul also said “Follow me as I follow Christ”.

So will you be Sold or are you Sold?

A Lightbulb Moment!

From the forward of Bibilcal Missions by Roy Dearmore, Ron Thomas writes,

” The best way to disciple is one on one in bodily presence. What better way to teach than to walk and talk personally with someone. unfortunately, this means is not always possible. Time and space limit our ability to personally, bodily, disciple everyone. Tapes and personal correspondence can be a means of placing our imprint on the life of another individual. Much of the New Testament is a collection of letters written for the purpose of instruction, correction, reproof. and admonition. Another means of transfer and discipleship is an extended form of the written page. Why not write books? Why not pour those years of experience and knowledge into books so that others can profit? Books can travel places we cannot personally go. Books can live on beyond our expected years and touch lives beyond our lifetime.”

Who knows the book i pulled this from? It is 667 pages of “dry as cracker juice” (Dr Head) information on mission and working in the field build churches, It was required reading for a class I took at GBBI. This short paragraph changed me. It changed my perspective on reading and the benefit from it. I never considered reading as something to do as a means to be better personally. I had a lightbulb moment. The rest of the book I dont remember  but I remember this paragraph. To be taught by Spurgeon, or RGLEE, or the list is endless, once read a book by Dr Sexton he wrote in the 80s on building a bus ministry. Made possible by books. Read Read and read some more.

Proverbs 3:13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

Proverbs 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

and on and on Solomon talks about getting wisdom from learning and knowledge from understanding. May the Lord help me as I grow in Knowledge and Wisdom.
